Mayor Dan Smith called the meeting to order at 8:12 pm.  A motion to approve the minutes of the November 2003 meeting was approved unanimously.

Treasurer Michael Cicero gave the Treasurer’s report.  He noted that the government withheld village tax money in error and they will make it good this year.  He estimates that we will get approximately $16,000-$17,000 by year-end.  After this installment, we will be on track with 2002-2003.   He noted that we should continue to keep track of these numbers carefully.

Scott Kragie asked us to thank the Wray Brothers for their service this past winter.

Next item discussed was sidewalk repair.   Due to the high cost of repairing all sidewalks, it was proposed that we fix isolated spots.  After much discussion on this subject, Steve Katzki motioned that we repair all sidewalks and let the committee decide what is appropriate up to $50,000.  Obviously being judicious in their spending.  The motion was approved unanimously.

Next we reported that there was nothing new to discuss about the renovation of the school.

A motion was passed unanimously regarding continuing the tradition of a block party.  The block party committee, chaired by Laura Ginns has a budget of $5,000.  Date to be determined.

There was discussion about the drainage at the intersection of Hunt and Drummond.  Repairs were made and Chevy Chase West is committed to making it right.

Tree repair was the next item on the agenda.  It was reported that most of the major work has been done.  It was asked to continually inspect your trees and you if notice something please contact Steve Katzki.

Dan Smith said that a letter reminding people to slow down was distributed to the resident of Drummond Avenue (including Chevy Chase West.)

Next a discussion ensued on streetlights.  Steve Katzki said he would investigate possible options of streetlights and report on the feasibility at the next meeting.

Given the concerns about new construction, renovations and the property between the sidewalk and the street, village property was the next new item discussed.  Scott Kragie volunteered to summarize the bylaws and present them to the officers for approval.  It was suggested that when a home on Drummond is on the market the officers provide the bylaws to the real estate agent so that potential homeowners are aware of the village bylaws.

It was also suggested that we put together a welcome package for new families that include but not limited to schedule of trash pick-up, phone directory, important phone numbers, etc.

It was also suggested that we update the phone list to include emergency numbers for all those who wish to disclose that information.  Ari Antonelli volunteered to work on this.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
